Ghajini (2005) was a Tamil film starring that focused on Sanjay Ramaswamy who was suffering from short-term memory loss. Over a period of time, he decides to take revenge against the people who are responsible for his lover's death, Kalpana. The film was directed by AR Murugadoss and was super successful at the box office.

The film was also recreated in Hindi, starring Amir Khan and Asin as leads in 2008, and ended up being a blockbuster. The duo, Suriya and Sanjay Ramaswamy, reportedly reunited again for Ghajini -2.

A R Murugadoss had been away from the films and direction for over three years. He is one of the best directors in Tamil Cinema, but his last two directors didn't go well as expected. The Duo is in discussion with each other regarding the sequel of the film, however, the film's official announcement will be made when the duo takes it to the final stage.
