Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan 1 has become the highest-grossing film from the Tamil industry globally. Kamal Hasan's film "Vikram" was the topmost till now. 'Ponniyin..' beats' Vikram' and becomes the no. 1 position. It is unusual for a film to succeed to such an extent despite receiving mixed reviews from critics and audiences.
